A Tribute to My Mom on This Mother's Day...I miss you so much, Mom!

Clara Ferri Di Nicola

April 9, 1945 - March 28, 2008

Clara was a beloved and devoted wife of Balbo Di Nicola, and nurturing mother of Marina Di Nicola Leusing, Luisa Di Nicola, Robert Di Nicola, Christina Di Nicola Sexton and Adam Di Nicola. She was a Grandma or Nonna to Kendall and Nicholas Leusing, and Joseph, Daniel, and Hannah Sexton. Second mom to Kevin Leusing and David Sexton. Clara is survived by her brother Claudio Ferri in Aprilia, Italy. Clara was born in Mondaino, Emiglia Romagna, Italy to Gino and Elena Ferri. Her only sister passed away due to a car accident when Clara was about 12 years old.

Clara came to the United States in the early seventies with her husband and children, and dedicated her life to supporting and nurturing her family. She was a devoted Christian who lived to please the Lord, and was a beautiful example of Christ’s love. Clara was a good friend. She loved to cook and garden. She enjoyed feeding her birds every morning, and found it soothing to begin each day by watching the birds eat the food she set out for them. Clara’s family was her world. Weekly family get-togethers meant so much to her and she looked forward to each one by preparing special meals for her loved ones.

Clara was a kind soul and never met a person she didn't like. She was recognized as a devoted PISD employee for 13 years at Carpenter Middle School in Plano. Clara left us too soon, but she filled our hearts with a lifetime of special memories and will be deeply missed.

"How can I summarize a life so beautiful? A woman who knew how to persevere under intense suffering, and yet still managed to find the bright side in all or most situations. She never complained or grumbled, and reached out to everyone she could with the love of Christ. She shared her faith with all who would listen, and sought to please the Lord in all things.

After much searching, and realizing that the things in this life did not go deep enough or long enough, Clara came to know Christ at the age of 50. I had the privilege of introducing her, and in her words, she would call the best day of her life. She was my sister in Christ as well as my mother and best-friend. I love my mom and will miss her so much, yet I know where she is and I know some day I will see her again." -daughter, Christina
